Using Work Triangles to Design Better!

Work triangles aren’t the be all end of all kitchen design. But understanding the different functions and space allowances of the kitchen mean that you won’t have any design regrets. Of course a great design also means that you’ll enjoy working in the space a lot more. You’ll be able to entertain easily with good flow, and have large dinner gatherings without biting your mother-in-law’s head off for being in your way.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. That’s why it’s so important to understand your lifestyle, needs and wants when designing a new kitchen.

Work Triangles and Design

Hi my name is Jen Reeder and I’m the Designer and Project Coordinator for Classic Home Improvements.

When designing a new kitchen it’s easy to get carried away with form over function. But if you’re using an un-functional kitchen right now you know what I mean when I say function is THE most important thing. We like to use work triangles to help design better.

The great thing about this kitchen layout in particular is that this island allows for a lot of area for one or two people to work at prepping food.  At the same time, someone else could be at the sink working at cleaning dishes or putting them in the dishwasher, and they wouldn’t be in each others way. So that’s another element to laying out your kitchen that you need to consider. Having more than one person working in the kitchen at the same time.
